Daddy's 1st Fathers Day

I'm writing this late on a Monday night. Exhausted. Sorry I missed Sunday. I'm exhaaausteeeeed. Here's why...

I know I'm gonna get flack for this, but... I've peaked. PEAKED. And to be accurate I think that might have been a few years ago, but I mean, holy hell. The sun handed me my ass x almost 2 days ago now and I regret to inform you that I'm not bouncing back to life... possibly at all, or ever.

Now that that's been made clear-

LOOK AT THAT PICTURE! Hawaii's so fun but Alaska was so much better on Geoffrey's first Father's Day.

We left the docks at around 8am and headed an hour South of Ketchikan to land at this little gem for the day. Some of you may remember pictures of this sparkly, white sand beach from last year when my brother Daylon was visiting. By the time we got home it was 8pm. It was a good 12 hour day of 80-somethin degree weather, swimming, jumping off the boat, frisbee, exploring, and the constant search for shade for Luke. There was not a breath of wind and the shade was man-made. I honest to goodness counted 4 empty bottles of spf by the end of the day. We did not want a repeat of last year.

Dad, Jesse, Daylon, and I in the morning, heading to the beach.

Geoff couldn't walk the next few days.

Luke was buttered up with his personal bottle of baby 50 spf to excess and by the end of the day it was like fighting a pack of hungry wolves trying to keep everyone from emptying it. Since there was absolutely no shade within yelling distance we were lucky to discover that the tide was just so, so that we could wade out to the boat and take shelter for a bit -ya we're wimps. But it was great for Luke!

Here are some photos from the day. Honey, Luke and I love you so much. We lucked out to have you be the main man in our lives.

Maybe Sunday?...

Technically it's still spring...

We have been a little cooped up indoors this week. That was mostly due in part to the rain but also because our little guy got his 2 month old shots at the beginning of the week.  That second reason there wouldn't ordinarily be a valid enough excuse for us to stay indoors but, for reasons unknown, Luke just could not only get to sleep this week but stay asleep. The nurse said his right leg would be sore? Maybe that's why? Poor boy, but just the past day or two I have noticed him getting back into his usual routine. I get a sense of irony in that (aside from this week) our son has been a dream of an infant sleeper yet since he has been born I've had a horrendous case of insomnia that I just haven't been able to kick. When he stops sleeping so much I'll be cured I just know it! Either way... exhaustion.

Terrified before shots

All better :)
Despite the rain, Ruger, Luke, and I decided we would brave the elements and see how far we could make it down a trail before it became just too much for us. Luckily it just drizzled the entire time, and was actually kind of warm. Thank goodness for the north end of the island.
N. Point Higgins trail

Made it to the end!

We even picked up some garbage but since I didn't think to bring a bag of any sort, we improvised.

clean clean clean!

We visited Geoff at the fire department today and Daddy gave Luke his first tour.

We also made it out for Jesse's baseball game. He pitched, the teams went into extra innings, and Jesse hit the the ball that lead to their winning run. Go Uncle Jes! Luke slept...

See ya next week!

Blogging on the Fly

I'm going to keep the writing short today. LOTS of pictures though. I have three projects out on the deck right now (never know when it might rain), plus I'm most likely getting paint residue on Geoff's keyboard -I'M KIDDING, Geoff! I washed the top layer off so I'm sure it's just fine. Enjoy all the pictures from this week :)

Luke's first boating trip on Memorial Day out to Blank Island on Grandpa Don's boat.

Yep. Still fits.

Leaving the harbor

Whoop whoop we made it

Warm round beach rocks on the toesies

Checking out the tide pools

Luke is going to hate me. Diaper change on the beach.

We had to get out of the sun for a little break. Look at those eyes :(

We get a good lightening storm about once every decade or so and we saw a dang good lightening storm after our boat trip! Unfortunately I'm too lazy to upload the video of the lightening but here is the awesome double rainbow view from our deck!

Picture does this sucker no justice. It was the brightest rainbow I have ever seen. EVER.

The rest of the week was fairly laid back. Smoked some salmon. Went on a few walks. Did some projects and a lot of the usual relaxing with Lukers.

I always feel like Zach Galifianakis in our BabyBjorn.

Picking out counter tops is SO boring.

Bed time for Lou and Ruger. BEST buds.

Here are some of the projects I have been working on the past week. And here's the headboard Geoff made me :D

We burned and beat it with all sorts of objects to make it look like reclaimed wood. Look how rustic and beautiful it turned out!!

This hot mess likes it!

Mug rack. Now Luke has an entire cabinet to himself.

Plush pee resistant/wipe clean crib top!

About to spray paint mirror in the sunshine!

I actually liked the gold but Geoff said there was no way it was going up in the room if it stayed that way.

We compromised. I painted it white but distressed a little so you can still see bits of what it used to be :)

"Life is ART paint your dreams"

Mom finally let go of her baby Luke and let him sleep in his bedroom, in his big boy crib :( Last night was night #2 and he slept through the whole night -both times!!!! He has been a great sleeper from the beginning but come on! From 11pm-5am the first night and 7:30pm to 6am last night! What the! The boy LOVES to sleep. But when he's awake he's such a happy baby, eats like a champ, plays like a squirmy worm, and stares hard with curiosity at all that surrounds him. Luke you have been a dream. Absolute dream. Mommy and Daddy love you to bits.

Until Next Sunday...
